(3,014 posts)Yes, pneumonia is not uncommon with influenza. Usually due to secondary bacterial infection.

(14,123 posts)as I suspected pneumonia. He wasted no time prescribing a Z-pack with orders to come back in 2 days if I'm not better and he will put me on something stronger.

(64,867 posts)Flu is, among other things, an attack on the respiratory system, and obvious so is pneumonia. I know i had both once. I've had pneumonia as a extension of bronchitis once too, but didn't have any symptoms of flu before the bronchitis.
