The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI just got invited to a pot luck at the local Border Patrol station.
To meet the commander and new (4th in 5 years?) Ranch/community liaison. Should I go? Should I take Mexican food?

(50,601 posts)Since most people enjoy Mexican food, why not?
Are they the kind that leave water?
Or are they the kind that find it and pour it out?

(55,032 posts)We got the first liaison soon after one of them followed me to a gate at night and threatened to pull me out of the window of my truck because I refused to give him my ID. I don't know if that was the reason we got a liaison but the timing was sure interesting. I am not really interested in socializing with them but at least this wasn't a target shooting event.

(972 posts)The location: A border Patrol inspection station in western Arizona, on Highway 95 between Yuma and Quartzite. 30+ miles from anything.
The time: Approximately 2:00 to 3:00 A.M. on a moonless night. (As close to Halloween as possible.)
A vehicle appears from the South, coming down the hill into the inspection station, and pulls up to the Agent.
The window rolls down revealing a large tentacled being, with a box or three attached to various points, with blinking lights.
The Thing in the driver's seat speaks in a friendly, conversational tone: "Evening pal, who did you piss off to get assigned to this place on this shift?"
Of course, there will be cameras strategically placed on the vehicle to catch the reaction of the poor guy.
And enough food, drink, and dog treats in the vehicle to (hopefully) wind them back off the edge and let them laugh their asses off when I pull the alien suit off. And after he changes his shorts.
I spend waaaay too much time on the road by myself.

(55,032 posts)I should wear strange make up or a mask when I know I am traveling past a check point. Usually going to some kind of meeting or something though...
