Trying to stick to a weight loss diet, when my spouse, who is naturally thin, and has been that way his entire life, eats anything and everything. And never gains an ounce.

add instead of limiting - add 5 or more servings of colorful vegs to your day and see if you even have room for the crappy stuff. if you do, go ahead and have a reasonable serving of it, eat it really slow and enjoy every bite. stop when you are satisfied, not stuffed (takes a little practice - play around with it). takes 20 minutes for those "satisfied" nerves to react. eat everything slow and weight will almost be guaranteed to fall off. 20 chews for every bite, put utensils down between bites. eat what you like (within reason) and actually taste it, enjoy it.

If you chew a bite of Twinkie 20 times you may never want to eat one ever again.

(70,652 posts)I went to a nutrition class conducted by an RN. 3 days thing. She was sveldt. It was all about portions, as in, "Never a WHOLE banana, just HALF". And "Not a whole or HALF avocado, just a SLICE." And "Only the portion the size of what fits in the palm of your hand."
When we were filing out with our farewells, I said, "You are THIN because you were BORN that way, your parents, genes."
Of course, my rudeness was cut down to size. She fixed her intense, watering eyes on me and said, "I became a nurse because my child was born with Type 1."

Otherwise he says things like "I haven't had much of an appetite since I didn't run today" while I am ready to eat anything not nailed down no matter how much exercise I've had.
