(5,738 posts)What a terrible waste. That car was nicer than anything my father ever owned. He was a World War II vet who worked so hard all his life.
Or it could have been sold or donated to a worthy organization.

(45,565 posts)or we didn't see what happened before the video started.
There are many crazy videos from Russia. People go at it with baseball bats if they feel insulted.

(11,264 posts)...because otherwise you will be screwed over in the event of an accident when the other person lies like tr@&p. That is also why tge big meteor was filmed a few years ago in Siberia- people have cameras in their cars!
...it does seem like a joke though.

(6,709 posts)at the perfect distance. He also seemed to be holding the camera (i.e. not the usual dash cam), since the perspective changed when he got out and then back in. Also his presence/action was enough to distract the two guys, which was just long enough for the other guy to wreck their car.
Also, the assailants' reaction to the destruction of their car was...hmmm...cartoonish, a cliche.
Sorry. Looks and feels staged to me.

(6,709 posts)Too clear, too well-framed, too theatrical etc (see post #19).
It's not a big deal, in fact it's hilarious, and something I've longed to do on occasion...despite never having operated anything like that. Just looks like some guys trying to be famous.

(22,913 posts)No one got beat up, the green car was purchased at a junkyard for $50. The videographer "happened" to be in exactly the right place and "happened" to start videotaping before the "dispute" even started. Still, it's hilarious.

Rubber tired forked log loader https://shopcaterpillar.com/1-50-988k-w-millyard-arrangement.html
Backs in the 1970s I lived in a remote town where telephone was from a microwave repeater on the mountain that beaned to a satellite dish affair that fed a land line system of at most 300 accounts. The main local economic activity was logging and associated work.
One night someone stole a rubber tired forked log loader from a logging job on the mountain and drove it 20 or so miles into the small village where the telephone dish receiver was on top a small building that had the guts of the technology to distribute the calls to the land lines. The telephone system was assaulted with the log loader. The log loader was then driven about 1/2 mile away and parked in a friend's driveway with the engine running, abandoned.
The friend had his sleep disturbed and finally got up to see what was all the racket. By the time he dressed and went outside, authorities had arrived and he was immediately arrested. It took some time to convince the law enforcement he was not the culprit. The culprit was never identified. The phone company rebuilt the phone system with a cinder block building surrounded by cyclone fence topped by razor wire.
Edit to add
Here are images of crane shovels, note the difference:

(67,112 posts)exactly, an excavator. That's an interesting story about what happened. I can't imagine anyone doing that, but must have had their reasons! That would be a shocker, wake up and find that and the cops in your driveway. Thanks again!

(8,843 posts)years later still find the event amusing and not all that malicious (but it would be interesting to know the motive).
