From the winter wonderland that is upstate NY. Turbo Kitty has gone outside for the second time already this morning. We will towel him off when he has had enough playing in the white, wet stuff. Have never had a cat that will go out and play in this, all the others would look out and decide they would rather sleep or snack. The snow is coming down, the coffee is on and hubby and I are just waiting for our two grown sons to wake up and exchange gifts. Mostly the gifts are clothing but there are a couple of surprises too. Oldest son is a musician and he is getting a theramin, have wanted to get him one for a long time. Younger son is getting an original oil painting, fingers crossed he likes it. The painting is of two cars going down a highway somewhere out west on rye 66, painted by a dear friend. When they were small the gifts were games and toys, Star Trek, Ninja Turtles, Pokémon cards in the Christmas stockings. The year we gave oldest son an electric bass was a special year, he was so excited!
Wherever you are, may your Christmas include some good surprises, good food and loving friends and family. Thanks for being here for me, I dont know what I would do without you.

(17,651 posts)..I live in the mtns so the pine trees are gorgeous. No grandkids here this year so no frantic xmas morning activity. Just a nice cup of coffee before hubby and the last dog gets up. so quiet! Maybe they will sleep in.
Everyone stay safe and Happy Holidays!

You know that I'm not that far north of you and when I took my dog out a couple of hours ago, it was already coming down here - again! I had plans that fell through because I've been down with the flu, between that and the severe weather, I haven't left the house since Thursday. But I'm counting my blessings, I went to the doctor and got a prescription, I'm sitting here with my snoring dog and sleeping cat, my brother and I talked earlier and already exchanged gifts - there were times I didn't think that was likely. And I don't have to go anywhere today, so I can just rest up...
Wishing you a terrific day!

(14,952 posts)But you are safe and warm with a kitty and dog. A good book or a good movie under blankets sounds pretty nice. Rest up and get better and enjoy the beauty of this Christmas snow.

(206,413 posts)I really could do without - more - snow! It was already getting tough to make left turns after last week's storm! And digging out isn't fun, had to do it more than once already. But at least there's nothing on the agenda today except maybe some soup - and more sleep, so I do have gratitude. Hope you have a great day!

(12,160 posts)One of our sons had cut off the whole family. There was a time we couldn't be sure he lived. This past year we have been blessed by him deciding that he needs and loves the rest of us. He was here yesterday and we had a great time talking and eating Christmas tamales. (ohhh the ones we got this year are the best evah!)
Sorry that you've been fighting the flu. Maybe you are on the upswing. I am recovering from something less severe, a cold. It is about gone. A snoring dog and sleeping cat are always good company. Our new cat and dog are too young and hyper. I hope we live through the puppy/kitten stage. They either sleep or on a rampage.

(206,413 posts)My brother and I have always been at odds. But we lost our mother 6 years ago - it was an accident - so I have made an effort since he is my only sibling. And it looks like it is paying off. He actually told me recently that he's an agoraphobic, which sure explains a lot. So I pretty much have to stop by to see him - little did I know when I asked him a couple of times to give me a ride to pick up my car, but he did it. And I sent over some Christmas gifts that I'm hoping he likes - and he sent me something he knew I'd like too, and remembered the dog and kitty.
Sorry that you're ill, as well. It's not pleasant during the holidays, and the bad weather here sure doesn't help. My pup is 11, but he's healthy. And the kitty, who I found three years ago as a kitten in a grocery store parking lot, has grown up to be a beautiful cat, but he can be a hellion. When I was trying to wrap gifts, he stole the scissors and wouldn't give them back, LOL. But at least he's behaving (so far) today.
Wishing you a lovely Christmas, as well!
