Or at least I think that's true.

I have scads of daffs, so it is ok if they don't grow and bloom.

Yesterday this part of the garden was under about 8 inches of snow, but then the temps did a spike.

We have gone from below freezing nights to 60 degree nights, and the wild cherry tree put out lil catkins, ready to go into bloom.
70 degrees in Dec. is not normal in this zone.

Last week we had below normal temperatures and got a foot of snow. This week the temperatures are above normal and we are expecting rain.

The odds of a 'White Christmas' are pretty much nil. Which is fine, by me.

It seems like it's been cold enough for the ground to at least start to freeze, but apparently not by the house.

It's going to be above freezing for the rest of the week, it looks like. I'm in Lansing & we got about 7" of snow, but now it's pushing 40 & the snow is rapidly melting, making it a slushy mess. It's supposed to get below freezing by Christmas Eve, but a White Christmas looks like a bust again this year. In fact, I can't remember the last really White Christmas we've had here in the Grand Rapids/Lansing area.

Yea, weird weather, yet again.

The last REALLY White Christmas I think I can remember was 2013, when we had that massive ice storm. I lost power on the 22nd, and didn't get it back until the 27th.

And I say I THINK I can remember because I ended up with carbon monoxide exposure when the wind shifted and blew the generator fumes straight back into the house - through the closed doors and windows! Fortunately we realized what was happening, before it reached lethal levels. I now have a new, wired in generator in its own little outdoor enclosure.

poisoned. I remember that storm. Actually, I was living in Grand Rapids and Lake Michigan saved us from the ice storm that slammed you guys east of us. My sweetie told me about that Christmas. His wife had died of ALS that September, so he was alone on Christmas Day, without power, huddled near his gas fireplace with 2 ornaments decorating his late wife's IV pole. He'd gone out to Speedway & got a cup of coffee & was eating caramel corn from a tin of it that his next door neighbor had given him. Talk about grim. He just laughed at the grimness. My husband was in a nursing home in Douglas & the lake effect blizzard was so bad that I was stuck in Grand Rapids unable to visit him. Good times. This year promises to be much better, lol.

I learned that when you think you have done everything right, and taken every precaution, with a generator - think again.
