You may end up replacing the starter along the way, and a few smaller repairs like that, but it's worth it. If your car has a timing belt make sure it's replaced at the recommended intervals.

Be gentle with the door locks and ignition switch. Those are a pain to replace and nearly every 200,000 mile Toyota I've seen has some sort of lock problem -- from door keys that won't turn unless you jiggle them just right, or the worst, ignition keys that can fall out while you are driving, which is very unsafe.

Our family cars both have over 200,000 miles on them.

I had that issue in the 1988 Camry, with the timing belt, once it goes, coast to a safe spot , I had a friend who had a 1988 Camry as well, I could use his key to start my car, my key would start his car!

And my boring Matrix just passed 232,000. It's no longer my daily driver but it's a solid backup.

I hope they find yours in good shape or you are able to get a good replacement.

Why have one button, do four things, when you can have four buttons do one thing!

LOL

My dash looks like that, mine came with a Toyota factory installed CD player, this was the very last of the Cressida line, I found the dash very easy to navigate, nothing moved in and out but the CD disc itself, I can change air/heat direction easily, again nothing to slide in and out, as for the steering wheel, all I had was a tilt lever. The PWR button works very well when you need to pass someone or just get some movement going They call the last model year of the Cressida, the beginning of the Lexus, I have the original brochure for this car and lots of original owners notes as what the did to the car and how much they spent, gas, repairs etc. For whatever its worth, my mechanic said this is the engine used in the "Fast and Furious" movies, of course modified.

when it got towed for parking issues. I decided it wasn't worth the $800 ransom it was being held for, so I let it go.

A very poor decision on my part.
