Host Pete Davidson takes a moment to speak on the crisis in the Middle East.

1. It was a sensitive choice.

They didn't ignore the situation, and Pete's pain as a child who lost a parent to terrorism was sincere. It made me a little uncomfortable to witness--which I think was intentional and necessary. His comment about the value of humor sounded like a promise that he needs to make to himself on a regular basis. It was humbling to watch him make the choice to keep going.

So he spoke from his heart about his personal experiences and that worked like nothing else would have. It was sincere and touching - unusual speaks to most of us.
