She clearly has a national presence that Brian Kemp can only dream about.

Governor KKKemp is now known internationally as an authoritarian, Trumpian, GA GOP, election stealing, vote suppressing, criminal asshole.

For those DUers who are not familiar with the 2018 GA gubernatorial election,Brian Kemp (R-GA), as GA Secretary of State, ran the gubernatorial election while running in the election, and then stole the election from Stacey Abrams (D-GA), who would have been the first black, woman governor ever in the USA.

What he was doing was certainly national news.

But she sure has emerged victorious, like you said, she has a national and international presence as an activist and champion for voting rights!

Years ago, Kemp was put forward by the GA GOP as a, at the time, young GOP candidate for state office. He was elected to statewide office and eventually was elected as Secretary of State, where he spent years doing the evil work of the GOP. It was a years long campaign of Democratic voter suppression.

He purged voter rolls, reduced the number of polling places, and generally employed every evil tactic available to him with the rollback of the Voting Rights Act federal voting supervision in Georgia. His GOP SoS successor, is continuing this work, however there is now a statewide, national and international spotlight on the GOP’s voter suppression tactics.

Kemp and the GA GOP stole the election because there are no laws against what they did.
There is no longer federal oversight of voting in GA.
He served as SoS while running for Governor, FFS.

Our city is blue and progressive. We know Kemp is a racist Republican, and we can hardly wait to vote him out of office in two years!

Mystery of missing votes deepens as Congress investigates Georgia

To find a clue about what might have gone wrong with Georgia’s election last fall, look no further than voting machine No. 3 at the Winterville Train Depot outside Athens.

On machine No. 3, Republicans won every race. On each of the other six machines in that precinct, Democrats won every race.

The odds of an anomaly that large are less than 1 in 1 million, according to a statistician’s analysis in court documents. The strange results would disappear if votes for Democratic and Republican candidates were flipped on machine No. 3.

It just so happens that this occurred in Republican Brian Kemp’s home precinct, where he initially had a problem voting when his yellow voter access card didn’t work because a poll worker forgot to activate it. At the time, Kemp was secretary of state — Georgia’s top election official — and running for governor in a tight contest with Democrat Stacey Abrams.

Winterville is actually in Athen-Clarke County. When Athens and Clarke County merged and formed a unified government, the small city of Winterville retained its charter.

Fun fact: Athens-Clarke County is the smallest county east of the Mississippi River in the largest state east of the Mississippi River!

8. Thanks so much for sharing this, it really should be covered by the national news

One of the biggest issues with the news during these dark times is that Trump and his outrageous and despicable antics use up all the airtime - and it's been that way since the campaign. We used to regularly hear international news, but that's rare these days unless it's an overwhelming tragedy. And we rarely hear followup on so many important stories - and the blatant interference in the Georgia governor's election is one of the most important stories. I'm grateful to hear that it's still being investigated - and that Stacey Abrams has become an important activist for voting rights!
