(32,814 posts)Ive seen scenes like this only in movies. Entire mountain towns are gone. SEVERAL. There is no containment yet. We are down the mountain but my little city is rallying to care for the people and animals misplaced. Some of the best and worst of times. I dont know if I should smile or cry.

Its not of course and Cali will survive but can you smell it too? Make your eyes water, etc? Plus, if theres ash on stuff too, what a mess. Not to mention the homes, people and wildlife affected.
You guys have my sympathy and support. This too shall pass.

(24,273 posts)it's kind of a yellowish gray. Fine white ash falling on everything. When this is over I will have to clean everything outside of my house, but I've done that before and it was worse than this time.
I am sitting in the middle of a triangle of fires that are all about 30-40 miles away. No matter which the wind blows we get smoke.

(73 posts)"I find it very Sad, very deplorable, and possibly even unAmerican that the Bay Area has decided to relocate to the planet Mars without even informing the federal government of this move. On the other hand, that area is filled with Socialists who would never vote for m--uh, I mean, people who refuse to recognize the gloriosityness of America, so good ridants to them is allfefe I have to say."
On a more serious note, Good Wishes to Yuiyoshida and everyone else experiencing these uncommon conditions. And if you find yourself feeling apprehensive, just talk to someone from Australia, where said conditions are not uncommon at all.
