(14,852 posts)That area looked nice.
I'd feel more comfortable walking there at night than my nearby "big city" which is more like a ghost-town after dusk. Well, except for stuff like bars and strip clubs. Other businesses? Closed before the drunks and trouble-makers take over the place.
Brings back many memories. Thanks for posting!

I had to Google "Pied a Terre":
Pied-à-terre - Wikipedia
en.wikipedia.org wiki Pied-à-terre
A pied-à-terre (French pronunciation: [pjetaˈtɛʁ]; French for "foot on the ground" is a small living unit, e.g., apartment or condominium, usually located in a large city some distance away from an individual's primary residence.

(2,208 posts)A few years ago I went to NYC with a few friends. We took the Fun Bus from central Ohio. They had a package deal for transportation and hotel. Good deal. We stayed at a nice Art Deco hotel, The Edison, right in the theatre district. It was close to all kinds of things and we also bought multi-day tickets to the double decker bus line that takes you all around. We were most fortunate to have a lovely older gentleman with a love for his city and abundant knowledge as our upper deck bus guide! We made the circuit then decided what wed most like to do during our days there. We enjoyed everything from getting a slice, seeing Central Park, walking and shopping in Times Square, being taken thru alleys and empty buildings in Chinatown to end up in a huge bright room full of people buying knock off handbags, to lighting a candle at St Patricks Cathedral. It was a fantastic trip and I want to go back. I fell in love with NYC!
