2. I guess I just don't "get" cults, how can anybody be so clueless??

I remember when I was in school and we heard about kids running off tho join the "Moonies." That sure didn't attract anybody at my (decidedly progressive) school. I remember that a couple of them showed up looking quite bizarre in their robes and winter jackets. They were selling books and I felt sorry for this one kid who approached me so I bought a book and sent it to my grandmother - she was always interested in whatever was the latest thing that was happening in the world...
