they "talk" back. Before the pandemic they sort of lived their lives & I lived mine. Now we're sort of close companions. They meow and let me know when they want out in the back yard, or are hungry, or when the kitchen timer goes off, or when something is not quite right. So far the chairs and tables have not started "talking" back yet. The picture of my deceased mom does answer me sometimes. She says "everything will be fine, you'll be fine, just keep in a positive direction".
