(206,591 posts)He is incredibly informative, but he's also entertaining since he informs with humor. I was so glad to see that he was back tonight, in the past he has taken a longer vacation, but these are unusual times. BTW, welcome to DU!

(206,591 posts)DU is more than a political message board, it's a real community. And I don't know how I would hsve survived the 2004 election without DU, let alone the horror - and the aftermath - of 2016!

(63,221 posts)I haven't seen a John Oliver video in a while. It was good to hear him! I always forget how much I love his perfect blend of humor and well-informed journalism.

(206,591 posts)I was surprised he was back so soon, but these are unusual times - so he must have had something to say, either that or he was prevented from taking his preferred vacation. And I'm grateful to see him back, too, he is exactly what we need right now!

Similar figures were recorded for conspiracy theories involving other groups: while 80.1% of respondents did not agree with the statement Muslims are spreading the virus as an attack on Western values, 19.9% did to some extent, including 2.4% who agreed completely.

(206,591 posts)But then I have the advantage of having seen The Story of the Jews on PBS which woke me up to how far back this scapegoating went. I was a good history student, learned all about the world wars, but learned from that well-done documentary that it actually went back to ancient times. With what's going on these days, I think they should show it again. Recently, I'd been thinking that they should also rerun the iconic Eyes on the Prize. I found that to be a huge eye-opener for me even though so much of that history was from my lifetime!
