(43,123 posts)Oh, the tales I could tell.
But I'll settle for writing that quote down so I remember it.
And ... international capitalists financed and supplied Hitler to make money. Nazi Germany was viewed as a good investment. This was not known after the war very much. Governments wanted to hush things up for obvious reasons. In the 1960s it leaked into a few books. Then more in the 1980s. Now it's readily available. Didn't we supply Hitler with leaded fuel? Trucks? Tires for awhile?
As US and Soviet armies converged on Berlin, both countries wanted German technology, scientists, engineering. We enlsited former Nazi organization members as spy networks for the Cold War. They were the remaining levers of surveillance in the country. NASA's space program? Lots of German rocket scientists there.
I find books about the period fascinating. "Churchill's Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare". Nigel Hamilton's trilogy of FDR at war. Jean Edward Smith and Robert Dallek, same subject.

It's still on the road. I'm the weekend mechanic now. Bet those Bubbas are pushing up dandelions.

(41,831 posts)a year up in Preston Idaho, population 5,501 it really was a "one horse town". If you were not
Mormon they became suspicious of new comers to their neighborhood, ater which it got too creepy for me and I moved down to Salt Lake where people were a bit more accepting.

(301 posts)Blue bloods there was a history of this. His antiemetic attitude was really in plain sight with how he ran his business model. He had to have perfection and his workers had to show how there life fit that. He was a cruel task master. He was following hitler play book to a tee. Trump father was all about it as well. So it stand to reason that trumpy had to follow his fathers task master rules
