The Daily Show: Phoenix Cops' Extreme Response to Shoplifting Caught on Tape

Phoenix police threatened to shoot a couple in front of their young kids over an allegedly shoplifted doll in an unsettling but not uncommon abuse of power.

I agree. The young Dad was on Rev Al's show yesterday and talked about it. Rhiannon12866 Jun 2019 #2

He did require medical treatment - and after all the news coverage, it's obvious he has a case. It's just extremely lucky that he wasn't shot.

I found a video of his interview with Rev Al. It starts at 24:20 into this video of the show:

And I agree with Trevor that there have to be countless cases like this with terrible outcomes which we'll never know about - and that the folks on the street were the voices of reason instead of supposedly trained law enforcement. I don't know about the baby, but that poor little girl was unbelievably traumatized. Like you, at that age she had no idea she did something wrong. I also hope that they win their case - with the videos and the publicity it has to be a slam dunk - and both the kids and the parents could certainly use therapy. The look in that young Dad's eyes - even now - is haunting.
