But those ideas are will cause panic and opposition from the corporate powers that stand to lose if they are implemented. Hence, Pelosi/Schumer's nervousness -- those corporations have a lot of money ready to donate to politicians who support the corporate bankroll.
But AOC's platform consists of do-able ideas, of possible and plausible goals. Her ideas are huge, of course, but in presenting them, she brilliantly echoes JFK's promise to land a man on the moon in 10 years. Yeah, she says, that was something, but we can draw on that same American vision, passion, and drive to accomplish a much larger goal in 10 years: that of saving the entire planet, its people, and their civilization.
Now it's time to see whether Congress has the starch to support it. Leader Pelosi is, I think, hoping it will simply go away. If she's right, we're screwed. But I doubt Octavio-Cortez will allow that to happen. She is not afraid to go nose to nose with Pelosi and other long time Dem Reps and Senators -- and she will not be silenced or brushed aside. It may well be that her Green New Deal is our last best hope for a future.
