I understand that being a cop is not easy, but situations like this have to stop, this is abuse! I hope these girls parents are able to sue the department.

2. What law are people violating for videoing? I assume it is "interferance" or something, but that

seems BS in this case.

I understand police making people backup when they are investigating something.

But I just don't see how it is a violation to video arrests, especially in this case where the alleged suspect is in custody.

I do understand why police would prefer not to be videoed when they act like rouge enforcers, but that doesn't mean it's illegal. Somehow, this junk needs to be stopped.

Seems to me that it's simple to train an officer -- "Look Sargent Friday, bystanders are allowed to video investigations and arrests as long as they are not interfering in the performance of your job. Videoing is not interfering. Do you get it, or do I need to make it simpler?"

I’ve seen cops use that bullshit excuse to take phones away from cop watchers.

If you are prone to react violently when someone questions you you're not emotionally mature enough to keep people safe.

perhaps firing and rehiring by the next jurisdiction over.

The ones who pay for this are the taxpayers of the funding jurisdiction. As long as there's no severe punishment, the thugs will be thugs.

"the next jurisdiction over". We get all the rejects. We are also one of the last counties in the state where you can be a LEO without a college degree. The incident in my county was done by Sheriff's deputies and the amount of lawsuits paid out during the Sheriff's term was a major factor in his not getting reelected.

As far as what penalty the cop pays, it will go in his personnel file as a reprimand or whatever and can affect future promotions or assignments.

10. Here is how we can stop this.

Take em to court and take the city, county and state to the cleaners. The mayor is responsible for hiring the their boss and he is elected. Too bad when the city runs out of money to pay cops. The sheriff is elected, too bad when the department runs out of money. State Police answer to the elected governor, too bad when the state is low on funds. Even if they have insurance, the price will go up.

It's the brass that allows or does not allow this to happen. The department reflects how the boss runs it. Always be nice and then report any action they take that does not reflect well on that department. I was hassled many years ago and I reported it to the Chief of Police. The officer had to call and apologize to me. I was told there had been more than one report on this cop and he would not be able to get a promotion for at least a few years because of it.
