(4,483 posts)love her standing up to the cops who were hassling her. She's right; she was asking questions. She was not threatening anyone. It's absurd that she should have been asked for ID. Good for her.

A 70 year old woman asking a politician if he will fund his policy mandates is "threatening"? To whom?

(17,652 posts)Thats what it sounds like to me. And she was waving on someone behind her in the crowd, or directing the man next to her to do so?
If so, then the police are right, she was threatening.
Pushing through the crowd alone is not threatening without other behavior.
I spent a month traveling through rural Quebec a good few years ago and found the people lovely but the politics fraught, even then.
I hope a French speaker can clarify what was said here.
That aside, Trudeaus response and the crowds support were very positive.

(1,037 posts)Opposing illegal immigration is not racism even if you want to lie and pretend it automatically is. The reality is the people who lie and call it racism are just trying to shut down a legitimate conversation which they are afraid to have. The people of Quebec really did front this money and it is due to the Canadian Federal Government's policies so it is completely legitimate for the people of Quebec to demand the Canadian Federal government reimburse the province for those unfunded mandates. Trudeau is being disgusting and trying to dodge this reality.
Why should the people of Quebec not ask the Canadian Federal government to fund its mandates which provinces have to pay? That is called fairness not "racism".
