(205,320 posts)He is absolutely on top of the latest news - and he's not afraid to speak out, besides being funny as hell! That's why I started posting these, I figured that we needed all the humor we could get these days! And I sure missed him last week when he was off...

(205,320 posts)I've been doing this long enough that I've figured out when they'll be available and how they're organized - plus I almost always tune in, so I know what went on. And especially after a tough news day, I look forward to what he has to say, it always helps...

(1,642 posts)I actually like that you filter out the Colbert segments that have interviews. I'm less interested in interview vids, and like more the ones that lampoon the news.
There's so much to watch and listen to generated each day that I can't give Colbert a full hour, much as he deserves it.
I like Meyers and Kimmel too, but some days, they can't even get a few minutes from me.
This one's for you ...

(205,320 posts)I'm definitely a night owl, worked nights for a lot of years - and since I know that not everyone stays up as late as I do - or even has TV - I figured those who could use some humor would appreciate seeing the late night comedians' take on the news.
And I know what you mean - there's so much on that it's tough to keep up - but I give priority to those I like best and Colbert is at the top of the list. I'm not always interested in the guests, but the monologue - especially now - is must-see-TV for me. And since this is a political forum, I post the political guests. I figured DUers would be interested in Madeline Albright - I actually wish her interview had been longer since I knew she had an ongoing relationship with North Korea when she was SoS for President Clinton. When Bush* took over, Kim Jong-il wanted to continue dealing with her.
Yeah, last week, I was thinking, man, that Rhiannon is slacking with those clips. Then I realized it was Colbert slacking.

(205,320 posts)I've actually gotten a couple of PMs, wondering what happened to the Colbert posts! I guess he deserves a vacation just like the rest of us - but sometimes his (or the network's) timing isn't the best! I've also wondered how he felt about missing important breaking news since not long ago he actually adlibbed the second half of his monologue because the news about Trump's proposed visit to North Korea broke while he was in the middle of taping - so we know that keeping up with the latest is important to him too!

Thank you very much !

(205,320 posts)This is exactly why I started posting the late night comedians, especially Colbert, since his outspokenness and cutting humor actually make me feel better after a day of news that's upsetting, to put it mildly. And I know that a lot of DUers don't stay up that late - and some have said they don't have TV - so I figured it would be helpful if I posted the monologues so anyone who wanted to could watch them in their own time. Thanks for the kind words, they make it worth it for me...
