Depending on the size of the bomb, people living 50, 100 miles away might survive for day or so. It would be terrible. No medical aid, no hospitals, no electric grid, no water, no food. But the rats and roaches would probably make out ok.

I think it ran some time in the 80s.

There was lots of scare publicity pushing the show -

* Don't watch the show alone; get with a group of friends

* Don't let small children watch the show

In other words, you will be very, very frightened.

After the show there was a panel discussiin by experts to reassure everyone that there was no chance of a nuclear attack on the US. Kissinger made a long serious presentation reassuring everyone.

I don't know why they produced the special if there was no chance there would be a nuclear attack.

It was hyped endlessly and of course, we watched. Scared the bejeebers out of us. (My husband, my teenage son and my adult niece.) I Just remember the grim after effects of the people walking up a dirt road with rubble all around and sun blocked by clouds. No electricity and ALL communications cut off. Very little food. Sick and dying people everywhere. It was very sobering and hopeless, as I recall. I do not remember the panel discussion afterward. I was probably curled up in a fetal position sobbing.

The Bangor Sub base, Keyport weapons center, Bremerton naval base, Manchester fuel depot, on the other side of the Puget Sound are Whidby island naval base, the ELF Submarine communications facility that's North of the Everett naval base, then down south to the joint base Lewis/McChord.

Not to mention all the Boeing facility's scattered around the area.

All I'll hear is a loud noise and maybe a flash of light.

Th th th that's all folks.

If it hit LAX, we would be at the edge of the fire ball, a most unpleasant fate..
