Because the Republicans in Congress are now almost, to the last person, on the Trump bandwagon now, either eternally grateful for the huge tax cuts they got, or in total fear of him, after seeing what's happened to the chosen one, Bannon.
Our govt doesn't seem to be devised to handle widespread corruption and dictatorial attacks from TWO branches of government.

Congressional Republicans are not returning to the middle, they are doubling down with Trump every week.

in the face of incontrovertible evidence of his criminality.
The voters must back Mueller's investigation with electing as many Democrats to Congress as possible.
In the mean time, our country, and a healthy percentage of the global population, is at existential risk with Trump in the Oval Office.
