(6,066 posts)During the Cold War, it was an article of faith that even one nuclear explosion could easily lead to reactions and counterreactions that would engulf the world in a nuclear holocaust. I don't see how any of the arguments have gotten weaker.

(4,136 posts)If he tries to start a nuclear war as opposed to launching a retaliatory strike. The people who voted for Trump are the type to think that if they can't have the US for themselves (i.e. white "Christians" ) then nobody can have it. I believe they are that vindictive.

(2,590 posts)Should tRump bumble into some sort of mistaken nuclear exchange, say with an adversary like North Korea or even Russia for that matter, there would be a counter-strike and there would be no pulling punches on their part. In other words, they would launch a full retaliatory response with the assumption that it's all over. I don't have comfort in the so-called Fail Safe measures being able to prevent this from happening. If this should happen, there won't be enough time or enough safe cover for the majority of citizens and wouldn't matter much any way. It would be better to be vaporized at first strike than to have to try to live in the aftermath. This would be civilization and planetary extinction event, make no mistake about it.
