(16,811 posts)I have been a George Carlin fan since 1973. I had everything he came out with prior to his death.
My favorite comedy album was titled, Palying With Your Head. The opening monolouge is various ways of saying "Hello". Carlin's favorite was "How's the hammer hanging?"In October of 1989, George Carlin came to the Mayo Civic in Rochester. I had 2nd row seats with a friend. George comes struuting out in his way, looks at the audience. I shouted out to him, "George! How's the hammer hanging?"
George Carlin spots me, smiles, and into the microphone he says back to me.."The hammer is hanging a little low and to the left, but thank you for your concern." He could tell I was a fan and knew his material. The audience went wild.
True story.

(2,073 posts)I had not seen it before. I dearly miss George Carlin.
In his later work I thought he was harsh, but I find myself becoming more like him the older I get.
