I think one of the problems with countering all the fake news, (I hate that DT slyly co-opted that first) is that many are still in shock at how well it works. Even those working in the media.
I also think that the MSM has an obligation, as users of the public airways, to not simply throw face palms at the camera, but recognise the power of these social media propaganda. They spend hours on panels sitting in fancy studios simply REACTING to Trump's latest tweets. There should be time set aside each day to look directly at the American public and debunk these fake stories. Even if some do not watch, or if they do, will never even believe facts put in front of them. But it still should be done. The time is long past to just laugh and shake your head. While one side is actively propagating lies, all said in a sober news like manner, the other is simply reacting like its not even worth their time addressing it, or laughing at people that do believe the nonsense.
Yes of course as a serious news network you shouldn't have to waste air time by telling people that Hillary Clinton did NOT run a child prostitution ring out of a pizza parlor. But people have been brainwashed. They need to be de-programmed. Its a chore but it has to be done....every day, until at least enough come around to allow the Democrats to win back one or two pillars of government.
