4. I remember that scene - when crowds got unruly outside a club called Pandora's Box

in West Hollywood. The place closed down for good not long after. Saw some of it on the local news. I was very young then, almost totally unaware. Didn't wake up til college. Sure loved that song, though. Still do.

I remember that song.
My son was born that year.
He'll be 50 next week.

I've been saying to my SO that we could use a resurgence of musicians
with moral stances such as them, then.

7. Excellent. George W Bush was referred to as "Fortunate Son." Add Trump to that list, as well.

The rich kids who grow up to wage wars, but get out of the draft because of their wealth and status as sons of rich, well connected fathers.

Bill Clinton was a draft dodger, but he didn't fake it. He stated what he was, that he was against the war, and left the country. No fake "spur in my foot" like Trump. No fake "serving in the National Guard while not showing up for it," like Bush Jr.

It will never be off as long as I have a computer to play it. Oh, and I wore out several 45's, a couple of albums, and a CD before I knew how to download. Of course, I was 13 when I first heard it.

Too bad there aren't any comparable songwriters/performers like the ones in the 60s, in the longstanding American tradition of folk singers writing about the state of affairs, reflecting the society, and such, all while making incredible music, even if one didn't agree with it.

And how cute they were!

9. Just rap and angst against ''the man''. Nothing of substance. Rap is highly overrated as an artform

10. True. It's not art. Or singing. Or poetry. It does reflect certain things about society...

but often inartfully, and nothing too deep.

I suppose until the younger generation is forced to go to war in an unnecessary war, they'll continue with Katy Perry & Beyonce & Kanye West being their voice.

He did this song with Judy Collins....standing ovation. I can remember 1967 like yesterday. What is happening now is beyond scary.
Great song
