2. The 25th Amendment is not an option

It is like The Walking Dead version of impeachment. Every 90 days or so Trump could petition to be returned to the Presidency. It requires 2/3rds in both Houses of Congress to sustain even after getting the majority of the Cabinet to agree to it. It is not going to happen.

Threat of impeachment is the best course of action if the Republicans get to that point. It could be done quietly with Trump given an out (health reasons). Side deal being that the investigations will be dropped. Would the Democrats want that deal? The approach would strengthen Pence and the VP nominee. We would at least get the most unqualified man in history out of the Oval Office. On the other hand we are replacing him with a laundried theocrat.
