There is some speculation that Trump leaked them himself. The Velveteen Ocelot Mar 2017 #1

All the details would be on the documents ("attachments" and "schedules") filed with the 1040. n/t PoliticAverse Mar 2017 #3

If so, why? To try to make Maddow and MSNBC look silly for overhyping the story (though that would be weak, since she knew exactly what she did and didn't have)? Do try to distract from the Russia issue and the ACA repeal debacle? That won't work; those stories will be ongoing regardless of any other news. To prove that he actually did pay taxes? To try to scare the media off trying to get more tax returns be claiming airing them is illegal? But it's not illegal for the media to publish tax information they didn't obtain illegally.

One interesting thing is that the WH released their angry statement even before the story was aired. Does that mean that they leaked it, or that they are really upset that the tax return issue has been raised again?

the wrong tax form... who, with his "great wealth" and complex business dossier files a 1040? Isn't there a cap on the income level for that schedule? I read in a Michael Moore book, years ago, that when he became a millionaire he used a very different type of filing system... for the wealthy. If that is the case then we are looking at a cheap knock-off of an attempt to swindle us about this. The info is old, I question the form in use, and the twitting machines were ready to pounce with so much excitement that they couldn't help but start the twitstorm before the revelation hit the airwaves.

Smells fishy.
