I thought it might flow better and be more poignant as a mash up.

(11,012 posts)I posted that cartoon about Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, and Bush II about their budget deficits and Clinton's surplus on Facebook and a relative (otherwise would not be a "friend" posted: "No one is perfect but I love those good moral conservatives!" (My answer was a bit abrupt, but I don't think she saw it.)
Question? When did "good moral men" come to mean only those who did not get caught in a sexual scandal, but who were involved in all kinds of other coruptness?
For those who are Christians, when did Jesus get angry? When he was presented with a woman "taken in adultry" or when "money changers (bankers or loan sharks of their day) were doing their business in the Temple?
Why would anyone equate a simple failure of flesh with the systematic looting of a country and its people?

(312 posts)You missed the point.
The point IS the faux indignation, the inconsistency with which it is applied and the blatant hypocrisy. The point is NOT to artificially conflate Clinton's private lie with Romney's public one and suggest that they are equally "sinful."
The "Moral" Christians are so offended by Clinton, despite good economic times & surpluses, and the fact, he still worked to keep his marriage together. But they are not offended by adulterers like Newt Gingrich or Rudy Giuliani running for president. While they cry about marriages being destroyed by divorce, Ronald Reagan was the first divorced president. David Vitter and his hookers, Mark Sanford taking off on father's Day to be with mistress, leaving his wife & 5 sons alone, or John Ensign or Larry Craig...then they "forgive". Also notice how they pick and chose what they like about certain passages of the bible, but not the ones they don't like. Talk about hypocrisy.
Why not George H Bush's "Read My Lips, No New Taxes" along with Romney's lie? Funny but if a Democratic tells a lie, about his personal life, no one ever forgets it. But a republican like GH Bush can lie to the American People about promises made effecting them personally (through taxation) & everyone forgets?
