For the past two years - the US government has been negotiating with eight Pacific nations on a new so-called trade deal - the Trans-Pacific Partnership. But - despite the lengthy negotiations - the TPP had been largely ignored by the mainstream media - and even Congress was unaware of America's position on the deal. That was all until last month - when a 52 page document on the TPP was leaked to the watchdog group Public Citizen - and the proverbial floodgates opened. Joining Thom Hartmann now to discuss more on the Trans-Pacific Partnership and just how damaging it is to America is Dr. Brian Moench - President of the Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment - Member of the Union of Concerned Scientists and a contributor to Truthout and Common Dreams

That they are going to do whatever it takes to keep China happy, and that somehow someway, the huge trade deficit that has been building over the past decade(s) in terms of America's debt to China, must be tamped down.
How will this tamping down of the nation's debt happen? Will it be because our Federal Government will knock down military spending? Or because the Federal government will end American give-aways to industries that no longer employ many people?
No of course not. What is going to happen is that this Trade Agreement will pass. it will allow the Chinese to come here, and wouldn't it be interesting if those of us who have huge debts must serve time working in a Chinese run factory, to help our government stabilize... (If you are someone currently in school, with student debts, this could be you.)
You don't think this will happen? What if someone had told you in the year 2000 that we were going to be a nation controlled by TSA and Homeland Security gestapo-style agents who would be groping our infants and elderly every time we traveled?
That some fifteen million of us would either be outright foreclosed, or facing foreclosure? (While most of the rest of us saw over ten trillions of dollars in our homes' value drop very dangerously and to terrible new lows overnight?) That it would become transparent and apparent to anyone thinking about the problem that our government officials in the Senate and the WH are merely servants, although well paid and much honored, of the Dark Forces of the world's Biggest Banks?
Anyone who had foretold such things would have been laughed off the face of the earth. But if the above could happen in a mere 12 years, don't be too smug in dismissing my predictions for the next twelve years.
