Related: About this forumMeet the Bernie Sanders Supporter Who Debated Bill Clinton for 30 min. at a New Mexico Restaurant
Featured on Democracy Now!:
We end the show today in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where what was supposed to be a routine campaign stop for former President Bill Clinton turned into a 30-minute debate with a Bernie Sanders supporter. Clinton was campaigning for his wife, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, when he stopped at a Santa Fe restaurant last week. There he met 24-year-old Josh Brody, who questioned Clinton about his presidential record on issues including welfare reform, Wall Street and government spending. For more, we go to Santa Fe, where we are joined by Josh Brody, a graduate of The New School.

(15,139 posts)1. Knowledgable and very well spoken young man. Clinton was
probably blindsided being confronted by a citizen not only willing to challenge him but to do so articulately and with facts. Thanks for sharing this.

You can just imagine Bill thinking to himself: WTF? There are regular folks out there that see thru our establishment crap???

(1,230 posts)4. Agreed!
Really impressed by how he pointed out the precise ways Clinton was using "damned lies and statistics" to boast his "accomplishments" and paint a misleading picture of reality. I don't know what's worse, if Clinton is fully aware of those facts and yet continues to push that simplistic narrative, or if he fully believes in what he says (and doesn't take into account/consideration those other factors). Either way, neither possibility speaks well to his supposed/alleged intellectual prowess and integrity.

(35,835 posts)2. Bill Clinton Should Meet More People Like Josh Brody
Like when he's being interviewed on TV, for example. Josh has the facts, he's articulate, and quick on his feet. I thought this was a gem.
Clinton prob'ly never knew what hit him. How often do you find a "man on the street" like this?

Can you imagine if every voter was that informed? Why might have a true democracy instead of an idiocracy.
