I guess we should only elect a president who's served in that office before.

(5,621 posts)The times he voted to fund the war was so that the troops would have things like armor and bullets, etc.
Why would you think otherwise?

(12,699 posts)War should be the last resort, but weve got to exercise diplomacy, Bernie Sanders says at Democratic presidential debate when asked about his concientious objector status during Vietnam War.
Yes, I am prepared to take this country into war if that is necesssary
Notes that he supported war in Afghanistan, air strikes in Syria, efforts to stop genocide in Kosovo
Says he was opposed to policy of Vietnam war, not U.S. troops fighting it; was decision he made as young man

Secretary of State shaped her world view well
Sanders knows a lot about the military
No need to talk about the other guy, he's a lunatic.

My concern is that Hillary has moved to the solid American middle, much the
same area Obama has resided in, at a time when the electorate is migrating
to the fringes.
It's going to be a tough election. We will look more like Brazil if Trump is elected.
We are throwing out what is working in favor of what sounds good. No thinking.

(51,129 posts)Albeit, with a little help from his friend Ross Perot! Bush didn't see that coming.
Point is, Hillary is positioned to win the general, and Bernie is positioned to lose the general. Sad facts and pragmatic realities are part of political strategy. First order of business, get elected, otherwise all is nothing.
Oh, and they aren't rumors, they are calculated LIES.

(856 posts)Disagree--Senator Sanders is the only Presidential Candidate who consistently speaks about income inequality & a moral economy. Hillary is for the status quo. Bernie is the Presidential Candidate for change which is needed at this time--US economy will be unsustainable if unfettered Capitalism continues.

(51,129 posts)has it sustained itself for so long? That's a simplistic and untenable idea.
The problem with Sanders is any Republican can beat him in the general because he is the socialist extremist. Not saying that is a bad thing, just saying who the voters are and how they vote. Sanders can't even win the Dem voters by a majority. He is only still in the race because so many states allow non-party-members to vote. If he can't win over centrist Dems, the general election could be a disaster for us all, including losing control of the Senate again. Once the R's have the White House and Congress, democracy ends.

(18 posts)Divisive post. Just what the Repubs want. At a time when we will need to unify and get behind whoever our nominee will be, this is just a stupid post. Stop the in-fighting and unite against Trump.
