(23,156 posts)much, much steeper than it really is. They obviously used a serious telephoto lens, which shortens the distance, making hills look steeper. And a 6.1% grade isn't really all that steep, not compared to any number of streets out there, such as in San Francisco.

(23,156 posts)The others all make it look nearly vertical.
Not smoke and mirrors, but a telephoto lens, the kind of thing that makes the sun or the moon look vastly enormous, when in reality their apparent size is more like that of a dime held at arm's length.

(5,214 posts)I've driven in most of the US states and the steepest ones are coming south into Salt Lake City, the Donner Pass area NV and surprisingly in WV as some of those grades are 6%, but of course those are on 6 lane divided interstates.

(10,807 posts)It's not Filbert St. steep but it's still pretty steep. I drive the Skyway all the time and going over the top at 55 mph and dropping it into neutral I can get to 80 mph easy at the bottom. That swerve in the road is a nice added hair raising feature as well.
