(28,394 posts)I am sick of seeing him on every dam* TV "news" show, even local news. I really think he makes these outrageous comments just to gain more coverage and the media falls for it every time. How about ignoring him and see if he goes away?
I'll settle for second.

(10,893 posts)loves how he's dragging the GOP through the mud, but the other part of me is sickened with how a guy like him is taken seriously for president at all (let alone leading in the polls). He has virtually no ideas that would benefit ordinary Americans, his record as a businessman is spotty (bankruptcy, anyone?), he harassed a president for his birth certificate, and he is a professional xenophobe.

(21,925 posts)Trump is running his campaign like a reality TV show and every Republican candidate has to step to their mark as an actor according to his script.
I thought the exchange on Monday was funny when Rick Perry called Trump a "cancer" on the party and Trump responded that Perry should be forced to take an IQ test in order to run.

(2,529 posts)The GOP base is flocking to him and haven't so much as made a peep about what's the most important qualities they seek in a candidate, namely whether god asked him to run for office and how he feels about abortion. Trump's ducked both questions and not very skillfully and still, the base fawns over him. Where will he fall in the GOPs much vaunted Values Scorecard? He's written proudly in his book about his sleeping around and he's been unapologetic about his affairs and divorces. But, so far, religious conservatives and their microscopic screening of all the candidates are giving Trump a free pass. Their too caught up in the Trumpmania.

(10,112 posts)I watched some clips of squirrel head speaking down in South Carolina. I thought what he said about Perry and Graham was funny. However, they have only themselves to blame, their party is racist, uncaring, hateful and glorifies bullies, so of course he is doing well in the polling.

(13,907 posts)Trump is out there to grab attention. The corporate media doesn't want people to hear what Sanders has to say, voila!, it's all Trump all the time. Watch for him to fade and Jeb to ascend once primary season is over.

(56,829 posts)But, Trump is currently the GOP frontrunner, leading with 24% to Scott Walker at 13% and Jeb Bush at 12%. He's also been a celebrity for close to 30 years now, so has great name recognition and knows how to speak in easily digestible sound bites.
In contrast, the same poll has Hillary Clinton leading Bernie Sanders 68-16.

(56,829 posts)Sanders is getting more publicity than Bobby Jindal, Ted Cruz, Rick Perry and others that are polling at less than 1/4 the numbers the frontrunner is getting.

(6 posts)My theory is that trump is purposely saying offensive things so he will eventually have to drop out of the race and then be able to whine that he was forced out because he was stating the truth. + he gets all the free publicity.

(32,723 posts)Reagan talked about "The 11th Commandment" - Thou Shalt Not Criticize a Fellow Republican.
He knew they were a bunch of idiots and assholes. Rove eliminated that rule campaigning for Bush and since then they have been providing endless hours of smash mouth distraction for the media to fill their 24 hour news cycle.
Imagine if the media had to report the REAL news that actually made a difference in people's lives.
Well, at least we know where they stand on actual issues, right?
Oh... not so much? Just mudslinging and name calling?
Carry on...

Where is Anonymous when we need them? Please, Sirs and Ma'ams, provide us with the personal cell phone numbers, email addresses and other "contact info" for ALL occupants of the GOP clown car! Surely, that's within your capabilities, dear Anonymous.
OK, within a couple hours of releasing that info, their campaign staff will close this number, that email or the other social media account. But isn't that the kind of challenge Anonymous members thrive on? Keeping up with those real-life minions?
To be clear, I'm not calling for threats or other nastiness, beyond what Grumpy Trump did to a fellow candidate. But don't these potential public servants NEED to hear from Jane and John Q. Public?

treasonous , and an ideology of " the end justifies the means " . Is there really any choice for normal , patriotic,

(8,203 posts)I am having trouble identifying any plan let alone any specifics of a plan - I guess it is going to be mudslinging from here to Nov 2016...I'm going to need a larger popcorn popper...
I know I know..what their plans are - and if I have anything to do with it..NONE of them will step one foot inside the White House..Voting matters...SCOTUS matters..Federal court judges matter...senate and house matters....

Send Don a Taco Campaign is making a mess at Trump headquarters.
Donald Trump has made a lot of noise since announcing his bid for the GOP nomination, but the biggest noise has been his disparaging comments about Mexico and its people, referring to them as drug dealers and rapists.
Hes calling us drug dealers and rapists, said Stanley Menendez of the Latino American Friendship Society. As a people, were appalled at this childish behavior, so we called on everyone in this country to send Donald Trump a taco.
Now the Trump offices are being overwhelmed with tacos. Literally. Thousands of people have dropped off bags of tacos, had them delivered, even Fedexed.
Every day, were getting hundreds of pounds of tacos. Its making a huge mess here in the office. We keep refusing them but they come back, even smellier than the first time. said Trumps Campaign Manager, Corey R. Lewandowski.
This is getting awful. The office reeks of guacamole and fajitas and those damned green chili things. said Lewandowski.
Mr. Menendez is thrilled at the response. Were hearing from people all over the country that are shipping tacos to Mr. Trumps office in New York. This campaign has really struck a nerve and Mr. Trump is probably already regretting his rhetoric.
When asked about the Send Don A Taco campaign, Mr. Trump himself had choice words. I hate tacos. I think Mexican food is gross. Its all the same stuff, beans and dog meat just in different shapes. I mean, what the hell is the difference between a taco and a burrito except size? Its making a damned mess at my office. It reeks like a dumpster behind Taco Bell
A spokesman for Taco Bell who preferred to go unnamed gave a brief statement about the ongoing campaign. Were proud to be representing our Southern Neighbors with this campaign. Were reporting taco sales up in every state that has a Trump office. Our New York City locations are reporting a 37.5% increase in taco sales. Were getting calls for delivery but unfortunately, were unable to make the taco deliveries our self.
If youd like to send Don A Taco, drop them off or have them delivered to his New York office at Trump Organization, 725 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10022. said Mr Menendez
Don really hates guacamole too, so its worth it to order extra guac, said Menendez.

(12,827 posts)... That reason being: both candidates bluntly tell what they perceive to be the truth.
The similarity, however, extends nowhere beyond that.
Apparently conservatives like THEIR truth-tellers to be pompous windbags with no apparent experience, knowledgeable solutions, or interest in public service. Oh, yeah -- and the "truth" part comes with a HUGE caveat in Trump's case: most of it is just opinion and name-calling. But you can't deny that conservatives just lap up his "not your usual approach to politics" style. But is it really too much of a surprise, after years of right-wing "infotainment" media, that bullying and bloviating are all it takes to get conservatives to excitedly think that substantive discussion is taking place?
