(2,054 posts)I shuddered to think of all the War Pig chic that was going on in those early days of the Iraq War. It really was a temporary state of mass insanity, led by the commander in chief / war pig / war clown in chief, George W. Bush. I don't think that it really ever dawned on him what an awesome responsibility he was carrying on his shoulders. He just treated it as some lighthearted war game, quipping, "We're just making this up as we go along!" And how dearly our nation, and the whole world, has paid for his quixotic farce of a war in Iraq!
But the ironic thing is that W's war and destabilization of Iraq has drawn a new regional power into the picture, which might just turn out to be more of a stabilizing influence in the region, by helping us fight ISIS, and in other ways, than W and his cockamamy war ever was: Iran. And today's nuclear deal with Iran just might open the door for them to play a larger, more meaningful and constructive role on the world stage.
