(9,001 posts)we can't know if they are as smart as their mom. We also can't know if they are as clever or as athletic or as kind.
ERGO: the poster commented on their looks. If they were male children the same comparison to their father would have been made. Would you have jumped on that with both feet or does male attractiveness lack the same feminists stigma?
But GUESS WHAT? We get it. That's why we are at DU. Because we understand these things are important. That women should be judged beyond surface qualities. So could you please just stop with the Hall-Monitor Puritanism for one freakin' second?
God, it is just so freaking tiresome.

(62,444 posts)It's a family portrait. What the hell else does it convey other than what the family looks like?

(57,425 posts)setting me straight. I just needed to get a bit superficial. Heaven forbid they were ugly because then they'd be a failure. Politics is superficial and based on photogenics. I'll remember that from now on. If Newt Gingrich was only 'pretty'. The ugly stick saved us all.

wow, they are beautiful - And you can also se how strong this family are in this picture.. This is not a family who would break down anytime soon... And they need to be strong as many hate them, all, for what they are...
Most americans should been proud for what this family represent for the rest of the world...

I think the first family of the USA is a great family, and President Obama does a dam good job, if you look at what he have to fight on a regular basis.. I doubt he would have been able to stand so tall as he do, without the support of his family..
And Rush... He is a bad excuse for a human Being, who I know have a deep hole in the darkest, deepest parts of Hell when his time comes... And the worst is, his poison is making other things that he is right - and that everyone who doesn't agree with what mr Rush et all is telling, is the enemy... I have had the misfortune of listening to this "person" over internet sometimes. And I am surprised to understand that what he say on the airwaves is legal... One thing is to express his opinion that ok, but the hate he express it with is something that would never be allowed that be on the airwaves or on internet on this side of the pond.. For the most part, we still have a strict understanding about what is ALLOWED and not ALLOWED on the airwaves, even though many will accuse us of being to "following the rules"...

(71,611 posts)Sadly, they're extraordinary ... and, while that which is essential is invisible to the eye, what IS visible is REAL, lovable, capable, people with INTEGRITY. These days, I doubt even a plurality of Americans even comprehend the meaning of the word 'integrity.' That's even sadder.

(57,425 posts)we would like to believe that Americans are as a nation: strong, genuine, close, happy ...........
And at least we can project integrity onto their photo, unlike Mitt's photos that look all ginned up and posed with a subject that doesn't begin to project anything like trustability or integrity or real engagement.
