Mike Malloy - Gay Marriage: Prepare For Martyrdom!!!!

A religious conservative broadcaster warned Christians to “prepare for martyrdom” if the U.S. Supreme Court sanctioned marriage equality.

Sandy Rios, director of governmental affairs for the American Family Association and host of a daily radio program, did not specify what she meant by that – but her context was clear.

“Homosexual marriage is going to bring about the tip of the spear of the battle we’re going to face,” Rios said Thursday to a gathering of religious right activists and pastors.

Right Wing Watch reported that Rios warned participants that “your wives, your sisters, your children who now are going to be forced to go into public restrooms and share them with men dressed like women.”

1. In the way back machine of the 70's

We were fighting to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment in 2/3 of the states. Must have been '78 or '79 the two idiot men I worked with were claiming that all the public restrooms would be made unisex. Horrifying.

Peculiar thing was our work crew, provided institutional care for severely and profoundly disabled kids, in a building that had male and female wings and bathrooms for our residents but one windowless bathroom in the office for at least a dozen dayshift of both sexes.

We shared that stinking shithole bathroom as a mixed group and no man was harmed glimpsing the sanitary napkin dispenser.

What a stupid fallback default setting to keep human civil rights from moving forward.
