First, if black people vote against Republicans, Republicans try to deny them the vote, but if they vote for Republicans, they may get to 'vote', but it's a pointless exercise, because they'll be voting for people who are actively hurting them.

Which leads to the notion of 'Democratic' candidates running as 'Republicans' in 'Republican primaries', and all the Democrats in a given district likewise registering as 'Republicans' to vote for the RINO Democratic candidate. Sadly, it still probably wouldn't work, because Republicans would still target youth and minorities to block their votes, even if they supposedly were voting 'Republican'.

Sure, you could get a campaign together of people from minority groups pretending to be interested in voting Republican, but would Republicans 'undo' their laws to disenfranchise these people to try to win those votes? I doubt it, but even if they did, they'd see what happened as soon as the exit poll crosstabs showed up. Unless, of course, I guess you actually got a concerted campaign together for minorities and the young to simply lie to exit polls. So that every election, crosstab after crosstab seemed to indicate that minorities and the young had actually shifted to voting Republican time after time.

The republican party has gone way off the rails with it's blatant racism and anyone advocating African Americans vote for republicans needs to be scrutinized closely to ascertain their real motive. Are they on some repug payroll? Maybe repugs are handing out "walking around" money again like they did in Jersey a few years ago to black preachers? Are they doing it to black sports reporters now?

That's pure stupidity. I mean, why would anyone in their right mind vote for a party that is open about not wanting them to vote?

That's like "duh — where have you been since the dixiecrats with their racism switched to the republican party in 1964?" territory, like fox-in-the-henhouse territory, like poor whites voting repug against their own economic interests territory.

This pronouncement is a too smart by half miscalculation by Smith that he needs to rethink. He also needs to stick to sports because he's out of his depth in recommending blacks vote for any of those clown repug candidates, many of whom have trashed our first black president openly.

I got these instructions on how to do it from another DU poster:

There's two ways to put the sarcasm tag in.

First, you can click on the "smilies" button between the title and message text. It's in there. You'll have to click the ... button to get the larger smilies.

The other way is to type : sarcasm : (without spaces between the :'s and the word-I have to add spaces or it will render the gif.).

The Democratic party is not as responsive to black voters as he would like, so to show the Dems that they need to be more responsive, blacks should vote for the Republicans.

Isn't that kind of like saying these boots are a bit too tight and are not as comfortable as I would like so I'm going to blow the front off with this shotgun while my foot is still in the boot and that will make it a better fitting boot.

*facepalm*

I think his real intent is to try to get more blacks to vote for Republicans so he doesn't have to keep explaining why he's such a social Benedict Arnold.

If he really thinks all blacks voting repug will bring ANYTHING good for ANYONE other than the well-to-do and corporations, he is extremely naive. Hell, what about us (people of all colors) on the liberal left? If he thinks WE get anything but lip service from the dems, he isn't paying attention.

What he fails to understand, due to his own wealth-oriented lifestyle and social circle, is how close to the abyss this entire country is due to republican "governance". If people take his advice, this country, as well as the future of his OWN children, will be flushed right down the toilet, and into the dustbin of history.

I'm horrified at his "big idea". I hope somebody sets him straight and he recants.
