(10,642 posts)1. That's really scary.
I wouldn't have the guts to stand there and film it, but I'm glad someone did.

In just two minutes it looked as though the water dropped two-to-three feet! I feel sorry for all the critters in the trees that got swallowed up.

... the coverage it deserves. Very alarming situation.
Here's some relevant commentary -- apparently this is connected with the collapse of
a nearby salt dome.
Here's Wiki's treatment of it:
....The Bayou Corne sinkhole was created from a collapsed underground salt dome cavern operated by Texas Brine Company and owned by Occidental Petroleum. The sinkhole, located in northern Assumption Parish, Louisiana, was discovered on August 3, 2012, and 350 nearby residents were advised to evacuate.[1] Scientists have stated that the evacuation order could last for years.[2] The sinkhole continues to expand as of October 3, 2014.[3]....

(24,010 posts)5. Thank you! This helps a lot in understanding the posted vid.
Do you suppose that Occidental Petroleum can be made to pay for this disaster, in one of the most corrupt states in a union of corrupt states?

...accountability on this environmental nightmare but I don't hold out much hope for it.
