(24,979 posts)we have the present problem.
It's a completely predictable consequence of "looking forward." Obama began by leaving the cabal of war criminals untouched, so that they could return to this moment and urge a new war of aggression.
There can be no progress without justice, and that includes punishing the world's worst and most dangerous criminals - Cheney, Blair, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, et al.

(57,936 posts)Do they tell you the truth? Rarely.
Are they warmongers and worriers? Yes.
Do they mostly support Republicans? Yes.
Do they invite university professors and others who might be a bit objective and still knowledgeable to explain things to us? Rarely.
Do they hold in depth conversations with anyone who isn't a politician? Almost never.
Are they owned by huge corporations that only want your money? Yes.
Why are you watching that nonsense.
Watch internet TV stations. Watch C-Span. Listen to Pacifica Radio.
Shut off cable news. It's worthless.

(6,111 posts)had these criminals faced justice for their war crimes this never would be happening, these fuckers would be in jail.
this will never end, the media loves it and they are banging their drums so hard it is deafening. So until they are brought up on charges nothing will change and we will be in never ending wars. We should NOT be surprised.

(50,983 posts)As a matter of fact many of us predicted these very problems before the invasion.
If we non-experts could have predicted these problems why couldn't the experts?
Obviously they did foresee these very problems of religious strife. But they also knew they would be out of office by then and the likely Democratic president would make a convenient fall guy. Nothing escapes the attention of these billion dollar operational task forces.
Imagine they are sitting around the table before the invasion. Someone brings up concerns about the religious question that could develop in post invasion Iraq. He is shouted down by one of bullies in the room (Cheney/Rumsfeld). Cheney might say something like this, "We will have adequate forces remaining in country to take care of any contingency."
Ever hear the old refrain, "Absolute power corrupts absolutely."

As a bonus, do the same for every asshole that wants to parade them in front of a camera.

(10,558 posts)I'm more scared of my fellow Americans who feared impeachment. Please note that i did not say which of my fellow Americans because when it came to desiring impeachment hearings and the accompanied media coverage We The People presented a fairly substantial front saying it was not our will. This front was entirely bipartisan and now the world knows that We The People hold no interest in learning the truth when it comes to those we elect. THAT more than anything else makes me ashamed of my country. The world watched as those pictured here pillaged this planet and the single most important democracy on that planet said, "Nah, nothing to see here move along please, move along"

(21,925 posts)The policy was conceived by Wolfowitz, Feith, and Chalabi and implemented by Bremer. It sought to purge from any government service all previous members of the Ba'ath party, including the military and the civilian people who made Iraq work. It caused nothing but chaos and let the Shiites and Iranians move into the picture. Now Paul Bremer, one of the biggest bald-faced liars I've ever seen claims his policy was a success and that Obama is to blame for the problems in Iraq.

Because they were a big part in selling the lies. To affix blame on others would affix blame on themselves. So they continue to give them credibility, pretending that they also have credibility.
