Thom Hartmann: Tyranny is BiPartisan

Some people say they're not worried about NSA tracking their phone calls or hacking their emails because they have nothing to hide. But those people are sorely mistaken.

Just wait until the next GOP President tells you that the new definition of terrorist includes posting on DemocraticUnderground or DailyKos. And since the Feds know you've posted here, and have your every word saved in their data files, you become a terrorist post facto. And again, it'd be completely legal.

this is exactly how those regimes work. Despite common belief - most people in those countries largely go about their lives and for the most part do as they please most of the time - but in doing so many or probably most people are in fact routinely breaking the law - and that is ignored or overlooked 99% to 99.99% of the time. Then when they do upset the wrong person - then and only then does it become an issue. Let's face it - though we don't have to worry about breaking the same sort of laws that one finds in what is in theory a strict Sharia system - if we have a centralized data base making a record of almost everything we do over a period of years - it would not be too difficult to come up with something that could threaten, frighten or at least embarrass to the point of intimidation almost anyone.
