I am a big fan of Newsroom and look forward to its return next month; however, I am not a fan of gratuitous police violence, nor do I enjoy flippant attitudes to such unnecessary brutality. Thinking this scene is funny or entertaining is the first step toward enjoying what recently happened to that poor woman who was filmed being beaten by cops in a Texas police station.

If I want to see gratuitous violence I'll rent Inglourious Basterds or some other Tarantino movie.

While watching it I felt that the scene was completely out of place from what Newsroom is and how it gets its points across.

aggressive fundamentalists are obnoxious, but this scene actually creates some sympathy for the asshole, thru the over-response of the security guy, and less than compassionate attitude of the Daniels character.
