(14,400 posts)should be over the fucking moon happy that the antichrist is among us. Don't these fucking losers even bother reading Revelation?
Shit it always falls on the poor atheist in the bunch to explain to these mouth breathing tools that without the fucking antichrist there is no fucking rapture and no return to Earth by the vengeful "evil Jesus" that most evangelical fuckwads seem to believe in these days.
Fucking morons.

(5,279 posts)Maybe he's the sixth, I'm not sure. Isn't it 1st Jesus, 2nd the Father, 3d the Holy Ghost, 4th Satan, 5th Virgin Mary, 6th Antichrist?
I know the 1st, 2nd, and 3d all parts of a single god that should be worshiped separately. I guess he is the "swiss army knife" of divine beings. Satan is the evil Father God, and I think the Antichrist is kinda the evil Jesus. And only some christians believe the Virgin Mary is divine. And some christians believe in demigods (saints).
Weirdest monotheistic religion I ever heard of.

(53,093 posts)and I'm really not the best person to be trying to explain this.
Mary is the mother of Jesus. Jesus is the son of God. The Holy Spirit is sort of a divine essence. The Trinity holds that all three are one, but not all Christian denominations adhere to the concept of the trinity. Many protestant faiths de-emphasize the importance of Mary in particular.
Satan is a fallen angel, not a father of God.
The Antichrist is a false idol who will return to earth before the Apocalypse. In the Second Coming, Jesus will return to earth to battle the Antichrist (who really is Wayne LaPierre, so Jesus needs to get a move on).
All religions are weird. None are rational, and holy books all contradict themselves, which is why fundamentalism is so problematic.

(53,093 posts)Catholics often pray to saints, who serve as intercessors between people and God.

(5,279 posts)Saint are divine lobbyists?
Sorry. I've heard the reason for praying to saints before, it just seems a weak argument to me.
BainsBane
(53,093 posts)It doesn't have to be a strong argument. It's just what some people believe. My mother is very big on St. Teresa, though hasn't gone to church for over 50 years.

(53,093 posts)I know at one point she told me she was doing them for some election, and at the same time I was looking for a job. I couldn't persuade her to do them for me instead, although she has in the past. So while the world thinks Obama was elected and due to a superior turnout operation, I suspect the true cause was my mother's Novenas.
