Biden must campaign against a man who already thinks he's president

WASHINGTON — He promised to repeal the Affordable Care Act. He demanded states deploy the National Guard to the U.S.-Mexico border. He warned congressional Republicans to hold out for a perfect deal on immigration — or else.

Former President Donald Trump has not even clinched the Republican presidential nomination, but he has wasted no time issuing directives as if he were making them from the Oval Office instead of between appearances in a New York courtroom.

And now, President Joe Biden has been forced to ponder a campaign question that no president has ever had to consider: How do you run against a man who has already had the job, never conceded his election loss and is already acting like he has the job again?

Trump’s power over his party, the loyalty of his base and his swift reemergence as the likely Republican nominee allow him to spar with Biden in ways that other candidates could not.

That has been Trump's tactic throughout. MAGA believes him, he pushes all the buttons that he planted in their minds. We need to ensure the rest of the public doesn't buy into the constant mental abuse of logical fallacies, gaslighting, stonewalling that Trump employs.

Sometimes I wonder how he keeps his anger down, given that alone among 46 presidents, he has had to deal with so many aholes including his predecessor saying he isn't really president.

We're lucky that he has such a good temperament. Obama did (does) too-- I've always thought Obama had the best temperament of any pres since FDR-- but though Biden does have a bit of an edge (good for him), he also is able to remain calm and not act out of anger or resentment.

Why anyone would ever choose the whiny, vicious, bullying, selfish, demented Trump, I will never understand.

Wait for late October and confess that he really won in 2020. He’s been president all this time… but now his second term is coming to an end.
