Trump's house of cards is starting to crumble

Trump's house of cards is starting to crumble
He wants you to believe he’s already won the general election, even if he ends up in prison this fall

(Salon) Donald Trump, fresh from his “overwhelming victory in Iowa” (his campaign’s words) had to suffer Wednesday from the reality of a New York courtroom where E. Jean Carroll is taking him to task for defamation. This, of course, after a jury previously found Trump sexually assaulted Carroll and defamed her. So the current trial isn’t about guilt or innocence – that’s already been determined. Trump’s sojourn back into civil court is all about the money – and that doesn’t make him happy.

So, he lashed out Wednesday in court.

....(snip)....

So, yes, Trump is technically correct – those who actually voted in Iowa overwhelmingly supported him. But the numbers were small. Imagine if you had a classroom full of kids and three of them voted for class president and that carried the day. The facts also show that Trump, as always, is guilty of building a house of cards. NO. Not a television show for those who want to see a dictator give the country a “paddling,” rather, it is a con job built to make the case that Don and only Don, a messianic figure to many of his supporters, will be the answer to all of their prayers.

....(snip)....

At this point, his supporters are definitely in on the con. It doesn’t matter if they believe him or don’t. They like him for one important reason – he makes them feel like they have control in a world that increasingly appears to be out of control. Whether or not Trump has any influence on the chaos is irrelevant to those who embrace his brand of chaos. At this point, they will help him burn the country to the ground to defend him. They want to convince you they are the majority and that they are inevitable. They are not. They are suffering from the intoxication of having even a whiff of control and, more importantly power. That’s all that matters when your life has been controlled by others. Power and control are aphrodisiacs, stimulants and a hallucinogen all rolled into one.

....(snip)....

American journalists are a weak and cowardly bunch, for the most part, and thus miss the central point of what occurred this week in Iowa. As Mary Trump pointed out In a post on “X”; “Donald is weak.” ..............(more)

1. No, Brian, when the results are 51-49, it was NOT "overwhelming support".

They EXPECT people to cower and tremble in fear. They COUNT ON it!
As soon as people really stand up to them, smack them in the mouth and show them that things are different, the bully goes into hiding and disappears entirely.

After he loses again in November - and remember this, Trump is on a historic losing streak even starting with 2016 popular vote (lost 2016 popular vote, lost house in 2018, lost popular AND electoral vote in 2020, lost Senate in 2021 run-offs in Georgia, under-performed expectations in 2022 mid-terms and Trump-backed candidates in high profile races got waxed) - Trump will pull out all the stops again...but the important part this time is he will NOT have the backing of the United States government and armed forces as the current commander-in-chief.

He TRIED to usurp the presidency in 2020 and failed (like just about everything else the loser has done in his entire life - with the exception of being very talented at using other people's money as his own through fraud, deception and theft. He is a career criminal and wannabe mafioso but not a made man. He is outside of the popular kids' cliques and never forgets that he is, in fact, substandard in every aspect of life.

Trump is the ultimate loser and he will lose and lose royally in November. I'm just excited that two of kids will get to cast their first votes in a presidential race this time around...and in the sample of voters in my house (which is only SLIGHTLY less than an Iowa precinct) - Trump is getting absolutely TROUNCED!!! He loses the white male vote - both young AND old. He loses the suburban housewife vote and is abysmal with young women. All in all, Donald Loser Trump is about as popular as COVID-19.

Communicater. He cares about the people in this country and shows compassion for people. That's what counts.

To me it's frightening that a man so obviously damaged could be beating his republican primary challengers as decisively as he is. Yeah turnout was low, and he got a narrow majority with Haley and Desantis splitting the other half of the vote. Downplaying his victory in Iowa kind of misses the point that he won. It's still highly disturbing that he has a cult that will put him in the general election despite multiple criminal indictments and civil judgements finding that he's a fraud and a rapist.

I hope he's weak. He's looked weak and stupid to me since before he was president. Evidently there are lots of people who don't see the same thing I do.
