COVID-19 hospitalizations on the rise: CDC
The increase in hospitalizations comes after relatively low numbers throughout the summer.
For nearly a month, COVID-19 hospitalizations have been increasing following weeks of decline and relatively low levels throughout the summer, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
As of Nov. 25, there were 19,444 weekly hospitalizations due to the virus compared to 15,006 four weeks earlier, data shows.
While this marks an increase of 29.6%, it is lower than the 150,650 weekly hospitalizations at the peak of the omicron wave during the 2021-22 season.
Rates of COVID hospitalizations remain elevated among senior citizens, middle-aged adults and children under age 4, meaning the virus is affecting both the oldest and youngest Americans..............................

(46,151 posts)Had Covid but didn't know it b/c I was asymptomatic.
So, in ignorance I got my Covid booster while having Covid.
Which intensified my Covid experience. It most affected my knees and I had trouble walking, standing, etc. Stairs were treacherous.
Then I caught a cold right after Covid and I'm coming off that now.
But fortunately, no hospitals.

(7,611 posts)But earlier in the year they distinguished between people who were hospitalized because of Covid and those who tested positive when they enter the hospital for other reasons. Only about 1/4 of Covid patients were in the hospital because of Covid. There is no reason to think that isn't still true.
