VA: Casino developer apologizes for antisemitic remarks against project's critic
One of the developers of the proposed $562 million casino and gaming complex in South Richmond apologized Friday to a critic of the project after antisemitic remarks were made about him on a radio station owned by the company.
Urban One CEO Alfred Liggins III made the apology to Paul Goldman, a vocal detractor of the Richmond Grand Resort and Casino proposal, for the comments by Preston Famous Brown, who had been a guest host on 99.5/102.7 The Box.
Goldman, a longtime strategist in Democratic politics and an adviser to former Gov. L. Douglas Wilder, has led the grassroots charge against the project, which faces approval from voters in Tuesday's election. Goldman, who is Jewish, said he has heard worse during his political career, but the comments were still jarring.
At my level of the political game, you operate by the JFK code: forgive, but dont forget. You cant lead with a chip on your shoulder. You cant lead with hate in your heart, Goldman said.
