"Keep her legs closed!": Republicans are mad one of them said the quiet part out loud
Republicans definitely want to punish women for having sex — but they don't want voters to figure that out

(Salon) With just over a year to go until the 2024 elections, Republicans are beginning to realize that the abortion issue won't just go away. The GOP has faced a political quandary ever since Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health, the 2022 Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, opened the door to abortion bans, which red states started to enact immediately. On one hand, abortion bans are wildly unpopular, and have only gotten more so as we hear horror stories about women being seriously injured or forced to carry dying babies to term. On the other hand, Republicans don't want to just give up on their long-standing dream of using forced childbirth to punish women for having sex.

To square this impossible circle, Republicans have relied on their favorite strategy: Relentless dishonesty. Lots of pseudo-compassionate noises about women's pain, while insisting that their sadistic impulses are "pro-life." They pretend to support hypothetical exceptions to abortion bans, which for the most part do not apply in actual reality. They make weak attempts to rebrand their agenda as "pro-baby." They feign support for contraception access while supporting organizations that actively work to demolish viable birth control.

That is, most Republicans most of the time are on board with the lying-through-our-teeth strategy. But not all! Meet New Jersey state Sen. Edward Durr, a truck driver-turned-politician who has a habit of saying the quiet parts out loud.

"A woman does have a choice! Keep her legs closed," Durr wrote in a 2020 Facebook post, in which he also called a pro-choice woman an "idiot." He also "liked" a post that called for "spaying women like dogs."

....(snip)....

Durr's viewpoint may not be uttered in public very often, but it's at the foundation of the entire anti-abortion movement. Former Texas Solicitor General Jonathan Mitchell admitted as much about his state's abortion ban, which he played a major role in writing. In a 2021 Supreme Court brief defending that law, Mitchell wrote, "Women can 'control their reproductive lives' without access to abortion; they can do so by refraining from sexual intercourse." He condemned pro-choice court decisions for accepting the view that "women (and men) should have the right to freely engage to sexual intercourse." ..............(more)

Is republicans don't want children in schools learning liberal teachings and they dont want them in liberal homes.

They want babies, but they want dumb, conservatively groomed babies.

If they can't steal them outright, they are fine strilizing woman. It won't be long before there is a permanent one and done shot that will prevent pregnancies (it is just being tested for pets), and you can be sure they will be lining woman up to get the jab. At every immigration detention center, at every protest rally detention center - everywhere unpopular voices are heard.

Before anyone juries me for conspiracy theories, lest I remind you that forced sterilizations have actually happened in ins detention centers and phychiatric hospitals? And those were much more obvious surgical procedures.

60. Evangelicals and the partisan politicalization of abortion.
Mon Oct 16, 2023, 02:31 PM
Oct 2023
So how did evangelicals become interested in abortion? As nearly as I can tell from my conversation with Weyrich, during a conference call with Falwell and other evangelicals strategizing about how to retain their tax exemptions, someone suggested that they might have the makings of a political movement and wondered what other issues would work for them. Several suggestions followed, and then a voice on the line said, “How about abortion?”

Still, it took some time for opposition to abortion to take hold among evangelicals. According to Frank Schaeffer – who produced a series of anti-abortion films called Whatever Happened to the Human Race?, featuring his father, Francis Schaeffer, and C Everett Koop, who later became Ronald Reagan’s surgeon general – the evangelical response was at best tepid when the films appeared early in 1979.

And when Reagan addressed 20,000 cheering evangelicals in August 1980, he mentioned his support for creationism and criticized the IRS for its supposed vendetta against evangelical schools. He said nothing whatsoever about abortion. Only in the early 1980s did opposition to abortion finally become an evangelical battle cry.

The beauty of the religious right’s embrace of abortion as a political issue is that it allowed leaders to camouflage the real origins of their movement: the defense of racial segregation in evangelical institutions.

Women are supposed to be like dogs, obedient and unquestioning, eager to please. Those fuckers don't want women to choose to have OR enjoy sex, that's only for the menfolk who seem to have a penchant for forcing themselves on women and children by raping them.

Part of this is to return the world to a place where men could have their way with women and children with no recourse. And whether or not to have sex is entirely up to them, the sperm receptacles have no choice in the matter, that's how they like it. Total control over others. Only those with penises can have choice and freedoms regarding sex and reproduction.

That's where this is headed, folks. If you don't believe it, you will find that it will be one of the ugliest fafo events you've ever seen.

for an abortion after her tests showed a severely deformed fetus that would not survive birth. Even though her health was endangered, she could not get an abortion in Tennessee, so now she’s running for election to the state legislature against a Republican (Burkhart) who had no opposition in the last election. She decided to run after Burkhart told her that he thought pregnancy complications only occurred with first pregnancies. That ignorant Republicans are allowed to make medical decisions for women is a travesty. I hope more women run for elections and get these troglodytes out of office.

“Burkhart also appeared to believe that pregnancy complications, such as miscarriages, didn’t happen to women who had already had children. “He was like, ‘Well, I mean, I’m just a guy, but I had always watched and heard that the bad things only happened in the first pregnancy.’ I’m like, ‘What? Who told you that?’,” Phillips recounted.”

Blaming the woman is the GOP mantra.

Women who continue to make it a habit to vote AGAINST their better Economic and Social interests, are voting to GIVE up CONTROL over their bodies and destinies. THEY are a big part as to why Republicans keep winning.

The focus for Democrats is to alter the thinking of Republican women.

Fortunately, his political career went down in flames after he said that.

Akin's Congressional career ended after he lost a bid to unseat Democratic U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill in the 2012 election. Akin, who had won the Republican primary in a crowded field, led McCaskill in pre-election polls until he said that women who are victims of what he called "legitimate rape" rarely get pregnant. Akin eventually apologized for the remark but rebuffed calls to withdraw from the election. He lost to McCaskill, 54.7 percent to 39.2 percent. In a book published in July 2014, Akin defended his original comments and said he regretted having apologized.

If you are pro-life you should be stopping pregnancy before it happens. Otherwise it looks like you just want to have control over women.
