From the Dutch newspaper, "de Volkskrant."
'This is what ethnic cleansing looks like' while everyone is looking at Gaza, Jewish settlers are driving out residents of the West Bank
Jewish settlers in the Israeli-occupied West Bank are exploiting the Gaza tragedy to drive away Palestinians, such as the residents of the village of Rashash. Land theft is in high gear. With help from the government: it hands out guns to settlers. More than fifty Palestinians have already died.

A look from a perspective much different from what many in the US see.

(5,429 posts)But from the bits I can see, it is very anti-Israel.
With justification of course.
Might be an eye opener to some with a one sided view, but I prefer to stay uncommitted as to who is the problem here. (Both sides are.)
Saying one side are the bad guys doing bad things gets us nowhere.
I'd rather read articles that propose viable solutions to the current situation.
So far, those are rare. Very rare.

When I have the time to read the whole article, I may have to change this post a bit, though.

These settlements are illegal.

I visited Israel and the West Bank on TDY in 2000 and saw firsthand what was happening THEN. It was VERY bad.
Things are MUCH worse now, 23 years later, and they are worsening.
Those of us living in the USA have NEVER been getting the full picture. Our M$M McGreedia has not helped one bit, nor has US ME policy, for the most part.
Israel's RW policies toward Israeli Arabs and Palestinians under Netanyahu are reprehensible and despicable. They are also opposed by MANY Israelis, who are every bit as heartsick as I am, if not more. I know many of these personally.
Yes, Hamas and Hezbullah are awful and I heartily condemn their violence. And always will!
But look at what is on the other side: the full might of the IDF and the latest US military gadgets and the US military, along with US allies in Western Europe.
I am not now, nor have I ever been a warmonger. I began my career as a Peace Corps Volunteer and, among other things, have worked with NGOs and International Organizations abroad.
Hapless innocents are being caught in the middle and have been for MUCH TOO LONG. THIS IS COMPLETELY WRONG!!
