Trump-Haley in 2020 - WSJ op-ed

(snip)

I mean no disrespect for Mr. Pence, who’s loyally served the president and the nation. But he’s given Mr. Trump all the help he can. He inspired his fellow evangelical Christians to take a chance in 2016. Mr. Trump’s greater obstacle to re-election comes from politically moderate suburban women, many of whom see him as divisive.

In 2004 Ms. Haley was elected to the South Carolina House, where she served three terms. In 2010 she was elected governor. Her tenure as Mr. Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations was admirable. The political savvy and tough-mindedness she cultivated in South Carolina were on full display on the global stage. Ms. Haley was able to direct sanctions against North Korea through the Security Council, vigorously defend America’s interests in the Middle East, and thoughtfully and effectively navigated the bloated U.N. bureaucracy. Because of this, she was able to earn the respect and gain the confidence of diplomats from all over the globe, while earning praise from Americans at home.

Republican National Committee Chairman Ronna McDaniel recently asked “why are we losing with women?” Mr. Trump has promoted women to the highest echelons of the White House. But elevating energetic and effective leaders like Kellyanne Conway, Hope Hicks and Sarah Huckabee Sanders has earned him scant credit.

It’s too late for Mr. Trump to revamp his political personality. But with the 2016 election in the past, Nikki Haley on the ticket could tamp down the antipathy for Mr. Trump that seems to afflict so many moderate and Republican-leaning women. President Trump needs the prospect of a Vice President Haley to help recapture the White House.

And Haley once had the nerve to disagree with him as UN Ambassador. Pence has been a perfect VP because he's bland, dumb, and obsequious; Haley isn't like that. She'd upstage him and he wouldn't tolerate it.

From 2010:

Former top New York official pleads guilty to tax evasion

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Former New York City Council and Manhattan borough president Andrew Stein pleaded guilty on Wednesday to failing to pay income taxes and lying the IRS in a $50 million fraud investigation.

Stein, 66, pleaded guilty in Manhattan federal court to one count of not paying federal income taxes on more than $1 million in income in 2008.

...

Stein admitted to lying to the Internal Revenue Service about a shell company, Wind River, LLC, which he controlled and which he and Starr allegedly set up for Starr to funnel swindled funds.

She hates trump, his policies , and has enough support she could beat him if she ran, and the gop are ready to dump trump. Was this floated by trump to dump pence? I don't think he and others trust pence. I also think he's scared of Halley.

Haley was savvy enough to manipulate Trump and then get out before things got too bad for her. She doesn’t want to be on a sinking ship. She is setting herself up for 2024.

Nikki Haley, which I was lucky enough to vote against every time, has lots of dirt in South Carolins. The kind the American people care about, alas, see The State newspaper.
It never got traction in SC, cause SC, but it might nationally.
